BROOKLYN, NY - We are proud to announce the signing of 4 members of the Brooklyn Italians to the New York Cosmos Youth Academy for the upcoming season. The club wants to congratulate Giuseppe Bagnato, Andrea Di Blasio, Michael Mollica and Abraham Rincon on being selected, and wish them the best of luck in their future soccer endeavors.

Director of Coaching Dominic Casciato had this to say about the news, “It’s fantastic for the boys to be selected, and we hope the environment at the Cosmos allows them to continue to improve so that they can reach their full potential. Three of them [Michael, Guiseppe and Andrea] have been with us since the age of 4, so it really highlights the good work our coaches have done with them over the years. It’s also a testament to the players talent, hard work and dedication, along with their parents commitment, who ferried them to and from practices and games over the years.”

Casciato added, “Hopefully this shows other players in our club, and any kids playing in Brooklyn or the five boroughs, that there is a pathway to the professional game here in NYC. If you have the talent and attitude, and are at the right club, sooner or later you will get noticed.”

The New York Cosmos are one of only three professional clubs in the NY/NJ metro area, and have had worldwide stars such as Raul, Marcos Senna, Pele and Frank Beckenbauer on their roster in the past. As an affiliate club, the Brooklyn Italians are asked to recommend players with the potential to become professionals to the Cosmos. Brooklyn Italians are the only affiliate club in Brooklyn. The only way to be signed by the New York Cosmos academy is through referral from an affiliate club.

We look forward to seeing the boys wearing Cosmos green in the near future!
