BROOKLYN, NY - The Brooklyn Italians Soccer Club is delighted to congratulate Jeremiah Pino, Andriy Fitak and Liam Richards on winning individual awards for their hard work, dedication and talent during the fall season.

The awards were for three different categories – one for goalkeeper of the season (Pino), and two for the best players at our Friday free play sessions (one player chosen from the U7 – U9 age groups; Fitak; and one player chosen from the U10 – U11 age groups; Richards). The three players were selected based on their desire to learn, attitude, attendance, work rate, and the improvement seen in them over the Fall season.

The Friday free play sessions are an hour and a half long for all players aged U7-U11. They are designed to give the players the freedom to make their own decisions while playing, replicating a “street soccer” environment. Coaches are only present to observe and ensure safety – there is no coaching taking place. Players play in this format for around one hour and ten minutes, rotating to play against different opponents regularly. Players also conduct twenty minutes of agility, balance, co-ordination and speed development work during these sessions.

The awards will be up for grabs again during the Spring season, so we are looking forward to seeing who can capture these individual titles then!
