In a midweek clash between two teams near the top of the Atlantic Blue division, no team could take max points, with the match ending 0-0.

In consistent fashion, the Italians started brightly, putting TSF under pressure from the start. The lively start did not result to anything, with TSF holding strong for the first 15 minutes. As the game continued, TSF sat back, frustrating the Italians and not giving them enough space to create in the final third.

Chances were few and far between in the first half, with both teams heading into the locker room all evened up at 0.

Similar to the first half, the Italians exerted dominance in the second half, possessing the ball for the majority of the period, trying to find the pockets of space. TSF continued to defend, setting up two blocks of four that frustrated the boys in blue.

The game livened up in the 76th minute when Christian Flath, who received a yellow in the first half, made a tactical foul to break up an unusual counter attack by TSF. Already on a yellow, Flath received his second and was immediately sent off. Shortly after the red, TSF created their only true chance, by hitting Bernardi’s cross bar on a shot from outside the 18.

Even with 10 men, the Italians continued to push forward looking for the winner, but it would not come. With the result, the Italians continue their unbeaten start with 10 points from the first 4 matches. Tied on points with NY Cosmos B and Elm City, the boys in Blue look to take top spot in the division in their next match. Playing this Sunday (June 11) against Seacoast United, we are looking for a big crowd to continue the form of the Brooklyn Italians 11!
